Is it true that shock collars and underground fence does not work for dogs that have webbed feet?

NO!! And for the above people who thought that is cruel, it is anything but. If they can visually see their boundaries, they feel trapped afraid and endlessly tortured. If they just feel a short sharp shock 3 or 4 times they won't go past there again and you didn't hardly cause them pain, and they didn't feel trapped. As for the question, the dogs "webbed" feet have no interference with the electrical charges, which go straight to the shock collar. I hope this answered your question! -Cherriey-

No, it's not true, as others have said. It's also not cruel. The shock collar is primarily an auditory reminder for the dog of the boundaries. I've had an Invisible Fence for several years, and my dogs got shocked ONCE. They hear the audible beep the collar makes 10 feet from the wire occasionally, but if you train the dog properly, they never get shocked after the initial shock again.
And, by the way, it's 1000% more humane than tying them out on a chain in the yard, and 1000% safer than letting them run free through the streets.

Dogs have webbed feet? And shock collars are great tools for teaching dogs their boundaries. I have two. We used to live out in the country with 2 acres and no fence. My parents had a dog that didn't know its boundaries and lets just say we no longer have him because he is up in doggie heaven. They had another dog that knew its boundaries instinctively. I brought my dog in and he did not. He would go to other neighbors' yards and across the roads. I bought the collar and it had flags indicating where he shouldn't go. You walk him around the perimeter so that he knows not to go past the flags. You put the collar on him and the collar will warn him with beeps when he is getting to far out. He gets shocked once and he will never cross the boundary again (until the batteries die). I have another shock collar now that is a remote control one. Whenever I walk him, I take the collar and I only use the beeping control. When he gets to far off, I tell him to come back and if he doesn't I beep him, not shock him. It works wonders.

Not True.
The Electric fence works well except for dogs that are running really fast, they ten to go out of boundaries before they get the charge. A chain link fence is the best, however they cost a lot more so then the electric fence is the best option. A little shock is better than your pet getting killed on the road.

um... no. these types of fences may produce a dog that is trained to stay inside a certain area, but there is no guarentee that the voltage is set just right for your animal, that something will not malfunction, or other situations my not arise. if your dog has an underlying medical issue, siezures or heart murmers, this type of containment is just abour the worst idea there is.
also, a dog cannot always be trusted to respect a fence it cannot see. a passing mail man, or kitty cat might cause the dog to bolt through the fence and become lost, or get run over.
your best bet is to spend a couple hundered dollars and put up a nice looking fence. its not hard work to do. iam a small woman and have put up picket fencing before. the hard part is using post hole diggers, but its a nice upper body work out.
your dog will thank you.

There is no reason webbed feet would interfere with a shock collar.
A dog with webbed feet may also have traits which limit responce to an underground fence.
I have heard of dogs so small and timid that they are horrified and won't leave the porch even to relieve themselves.
I also know of dogs too hyper or large for the shock to affect them.

What would their feet have to do with it? People come up with some crazy things so don't always believe what you hear lol
However an underground fence doesn't work a lot of times with dogs that have a habit of running full force out of the yard because they will run right though it before they even know what happened. gl :)

No that's not true but would you like to be shocked? I also know of dogs that just walk right over them. They never care if they get shocked even if it is on the highest setting! I would never get one because they are inhumane and sometimes don't work.

Um hate to break it to you but I think all dogs have webbed feet(for swimming) and why use that stuff when you can just train your dog to know its boundaries and limitations.

What kind of sense does that make? How would webbed feet protect you from getting electrocuted?
It is NOT true.
