In Winder, Georgia, they are slowly trying to make us go to school year round. We started school on August 1 and the last day is May 26. I like starting earlier and ending later because of all of the little breaks in between. Like a week off here and there. I don't really care anymore because I'm graduating on May 26, 2006. Go Class of 2006!!!!

Yes, Absolutely. Not because kids shouldn't have the summer off, but it's a lot easier to get time of work 2 weeks at a time rather than the whole summer. Also camps can get expensive for 8 weeks. Other reasons include vacationing in different seasons can get kids a broader variety of sports as well as different vacation places. They tend to loose too much information while they are out. And trying to get them back into routine, well let's say it's not a pretty picture. I have a ton of different reasons but these are just a few. However, my kids are small, teens need the time to work summer jobs and save for their education.

I just retired after 35 years as a middle school educator, and I feel NO! The general public doesn't realize how stressful teaching is and we need the break. In the eastern part of the US, it also would be very cost-prohibitive considering the weather changes we endure.

Definitely No. Imagine sitting in the classroom on a nice summer day. The thought of that is a nightmare.

No, because you still have a couple weeks of detention to make up.

no... but wouldn't it be nice if summer were just a little bit shorter and spring/winter break a little bit longer?
