How has media affected the world?

AM I TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE TERM MEDIA IS BEING USED IN REFERENCE TO TELEVISION.OR IS MEDIA THE MEANS WHEREBY NUMEROUS PEOPLE ARE COMMUNICATING.TODAY IN THE WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY,THE MEDIA REFERS TO MANY MODES.I COULD REFER TO ALL THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS;YET,I CANNOT .EXCEPT TO SAY,YES,THERE ARE NEGATIVE EFFECTS,BUT,DOES NOT THE POSITIVE OUTWEIGH THE NEGATIVE.THE WORLD IS A MUCH SMALLER PLACE,THERE IS LESS ISOLATION.CULTURAL DIFFERENCES,WARS,CLIMATE,MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGHS,IMPROVED COMMUNICATIONS(WHETHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE)STILL OCCURS.INCREASED KNOWLEDGE IN ANY FIELD IS THERE FOR THE ASKING.YES,WE DO HAVE BULEMIA,BUT PRIOR TO IT BEING COMMUNICATED TO THE PUBLIC,MANY SUFFERED IN SILENCE

NOT REALIZING THAT SHE/HE IS NOT ALONE.I COULD GO ON AND ON.

IF YOU LEARN NOTHING ELSE,LEARN THERE IS ARE TWO SIDES TO THE COIN.I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE MEDIA.CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING AGAIN IN A TIME WHERE IT TOOK 3MOS.TO RECEIVE NEWS(OR LONGER)

Media has affected the world in the sense that now that everybody knows what's going on everywhere else, we have a somewhat informed public. Whether or not the public wants to use this information for the good of the world is to be debated.

Also, it has caused issues like censorship to arise and become prominent issues in today's society.

Let's see....many reasons.

1. Causing millions of girls worldwide to become Anorexic due to pictures of models

2. Bratz Dolls are now turned into junior porn stars

3. Every 18 minutes somebody commits suicide due to not being up to standards that are being set by TV and magazines

4. MTV - that's all I need to say

Many people realize the dangers in other unknown parts of the world, like Sudan, because of TV. Media is the one that has communicated to us the horrors of Africa. Media is the one convincing us to "Go green, live yellow"
