Dogs do not get tetanus. If it is a deep cut your may need to take him to get sutures. Keep an eye on it for any swelling, oozing, odor

Dog's actually can get tetanus. I have actually seen it a few times during my schooling. It is caused by a bacteria called Clostridium tetani (google it for more info). Signs usually can appear in a few days to a few months after a injury and include persistent contraction of the muscles. To help minimize this it would be important to keep the cut clean. And if it is not healing correctly or seems to get worse then you originally thought then it would be best to have it evaluated by a veterinarian

Small cuts usually heal fine on their own. Just keep an eye on it for infection. Some signs may be redness, swelling or oozing pus.
