I was at the train station and this old lady was having trouble with her bags of groceries. She had A LOT and she was having a difficult time carrying all of them so I helped her out. I carried her bags for her to her train even though I had to go the complete opposite way myself. Luckily, I got my destination on time...

About every 2 or 3 months,I'll buy a bunch of flowers at the grocery store. Then I'll wait in my car a little while and see if there are any elderly people, stressed out young moms, etc. around who could really use a 'pick-me-up'...when I see someone like that,I hand him or her the bouquet, and simply say "This is a random act of kindness.Have a happy day!"They are ALWAYS absolutely thrilled and grateful...some have even gotten teary-eyed,and alot have said"You have no idea how much I needed this!"I do not tell anyone I do this--and it makes me feel fantastic each time I do!

If I see that someone needs help, I jump in and help them. Someone at the grocery store, the park, an airplane. Anything. Examples: If a mom needs help with luggage and kids, I'll grab one or the other - with her permission, of course. If an elderly man or woman needs assistance, I will ask them if I can help. Same with disabled peoples. I think it's also important to help those who are not in a "special" population... people just like me.

This is hard to answer,11yrs. ago I decided to give my life to helping others,I do this expecting nothing back. What I have found is, I get more back than you would ever dream possible.I truly have been brought into away of life ultimately more satisfying than the life I lived before. Not that my old one was bad.I just wouldn't go back to it if I could.

I know it sounds really petty, but I love giving people smiles. I know it sounds kinda really small, but it makes the difference in someone else's day. I also volunteer at the VA hospital, and that makes me SO happy... and the guys too.
