In an interview with a clothing store, should you wear that stores clothes?

For example, if I were to apply to work at a store like Abercrombie, J. Crew, or even Armani, should I show up to the interview (or any part of the process, for that matter) wearing clothes that come from that store?

I think it's a good idea. It shows that you're familiar with their products and have firsthand experience. It probably won't make that much difference, but it doesn't really hurt unless you make it too big of a deal.

Just make sure that it's still interview-appropriate clothing, not something casual.

At any store, for any job, you should look professional and somewhat conservative. The interview costume is to demonstrate that you take the job and at least the interview seriously. If you went to a job interview decked out in Abercrombie flip flops and a t-shirt, I doubt you'd be taken more seriously than someone wearing something like this: for guys, shirt & tie, slacks; for the ladies: slacks or knee length skirt, close-toed shoes and minimal cleavage/midriff button-down shirt. Taking the time to look professional gives the impression that you are professional and have maturity. The resume proves you can do the job.

I would say no. Wear what you think makes you stand out as an individual and shows you sense of style. Also, dress to match the job. If you're going to Abercrombie, J Crew, and others, wear a casual prep look.

It's probably a good idea. They will know that you understand their store from a customer point of view. But I wouldn't go out and buy new clothes at that store just for the interview.

You dress professional with whatever you have at home. J Crew, etc. sell t-shirts, jeans, crap like that. You don't show up at the interview wearing that stuff. Likewise, if you were applying for a job at a tuxedo rental place, would you show up for the interview in a tuxedo?

Maybe, because that could make the manager happier and show them that you really want the job because you like the store but I don't think it would be so crucial that if you didn't wear those clothes, you wouldn't get the job.

Well, I don't think they expect it, but do dress in the style of the store, so if applying at the Gap, wear clothes that are similar to the Gap, etc.

Yea it will show the interviewer that you already know the products, which is the main thing a sales person should know.

Not unless its like a nice dressy store, you know with business casual or something like that.

i would because it shows that u really like that store and you are willing to spend most of ur time there working.
