Because they take a specific amount of your investment :P. The higher the investment the higher amount of cash they get.

They work long hours (often over 100 per week), deal with confidential information, deal with unstructured assignments that have many many possible resolutions, dand eal with very risky (both personally and professionally) assignments.

Because they can get so much money from thier clients for the company they represent and they can ensure people think its actually worth it.
