About Beethoven...the movie about the saint Bernard....weird scene?

I just saw Beethoven again since I was really young...and I realized that in the scene where the kids are being watched by the old lady and the girl is drowning in the pool, the babysitter is playing the piano and singing Moulon Rouge...Was that supposed to be a joke that she was singing that dirty song?...because the kids thought it was really boring that she was singing but she was singing Moulon Rouge!... I never realized what exactly she was singing until now and I thouht it was really strange...Please if anyone wants to comment...

Update:

Sorry I just realized the song is called Lady Marmalide

It was odd but I think the point was that it was innappropriate and the kids wouldn't understand it, and in not understanding would find it boring enough to even sleep to.

I think there has to be some in joke about it - possibly about the idea of "Lady Marmalade". But I guess the point is that the kids wouldn't understand the context of the song anyway.
