I got my friend a boxed pen to use with her diary for her b-day, & I was wondering what I should wrap it in.?

Its a thoughtful and a simple gift. Wrap it in a nice wrapper, not too shiny, gaudy..but wrap in a wrapper with pale shades of pink, blue..flowers on it perhaps, to reflect how simple your gift is. You do get small gift bags, nothing too big but a size enough to hand over your gift in it..Or if you dont want any of it, just give it to her as it is..what matters is you were being thoughtful. Iam sure she's going to like it..

I would buy a cloth wine bag and line the bag with tissue paper before putting the boxed pen in, or I would buy a neckerchief (scarf), place the box in the middle of the scarf, gather the scarf up around the boxed pen (kind of circularly), and tie a ribbon around it in a bow.
