1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoAre their any sports for the 2008 Olympics in which the United States is not represented?
I know that the US has the biggest team in the Beijing Olympics (behind China), as well as the most metals (so far). My question is this: Are their any sports/competitions in specific sports in the ongoing 2008 Olympics that the US does not have a team or individual competing in?

2 AnswersZoology1 decade agoforehead sunburns, eye irritation question...?
I tend to get really bad sunburns on my forehead if I don't wear sunblock. However, I also tend to sweat more through my forehead than any other part of my body (or so it seems), and when I put sunblock on my forehead, it mixes in with my sweat and causes eye irritation at the most inconvenient times. Any suggestions?

8 AnswersRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoI'm flying for the first time in just over a week. What do I need to know?
I've never flown on an airplane before in my life, but I'm getting ready to go overseas on a missions trip to Poland and Slovakia, and I leave on the 15th of this month. We're flying out of Salt Lake to JFK where we have a short layover, and then onto Budapest in Hungary, and we fly the same way back... I'm excited, but nervous as heck. What are some security precautious and such I should take while flying and while at JFK (and the other airports).. Anything else i should know?
24 AnswersAir Travel1 decade agoWould it be a good idea to fast during the month of Ramadan, even though I'm not a Muslim?
I'm not a Muslim, but on this campus their is a growing minority of Muslims on this campus, particularly from Saudi Arabia, and I have become good friends with them, as has my sister and some other people I know.
And, as a Christian, I also believe in the principles of prayer, fasting and self-sacrifice for the sake of others and so that God can work through us. All of those principles seem to be reflected in the (Islamic) practice of fasting during Ramadan. A few of my friends from a Christian fellowship (about 20 or so of us) are considering joining with the Muslims on campus and fasting for Ramadan in support of them in addition to the reasons above.
Would my friends, who are Muslims find this offensive and hypocritical or mocking because we're not Muslims, but Christians? Or would they find it supportive and good that we decided to join in with them and support them during and for the fasting in Ramadan?

Is feeling pain the only true way to tell if you are awake or that you exist?
What about the notion/belif that their will be no pain in heaven? Does that mean that in heaven, we won't actually exist?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality2 decades agoAnyone else read anything by H.H. The Dali Lama? If so, what did you think?
I borrowed this book "The Best Buddhist Writing 2005" from a Buddist friend of mine, and it had a section in there from the Dali Lama, and he was talking about the emptyness of emotions and the emptyness of mind. I thought it was quite insightful, and I liked it. It really piqued my intrest, and I was able to draw some connections with my Christian belifs.
What do you think of his (The Dali Lama) writings?

15 AnswersMarriage & Divorce2 decades agoI got my friend a boxed pen to use with her diary for her b-day, & I was wondering what I should wrap it in.?
I like her and I've taken a shine to this certian lady, but its not to the "flowers and candy" stage, so nothing overtly romantic. I'm wondering what I should use to give the boxed pen in, and I dont want it to be cheesy (like comics), but I feel that gift bags are over used- and bulky. Any ideas?
