I think that the Oilers have a very well rounded team. They have a blue collar work ethic and they finally have a goalie that can make the big saves and keep them inthe game until they can put it away. I think that Detroit will not make it past the first round.

In a historical sense, the Montreal Canadians would be

the best built team, considering that they have won the

Stanely Cup 24 times, the most than any other hockey

team in the National Hockey League. Also, Montreal is one

of the original 6 hockey teams that started in the NHL,

and the only team of the original 6 teams to hoist the

    cup 24 times.

Aves I must say. With the recent pick-up of the all star Theodore in net (although a bit shaky after his injury) - the back is secure. You got Blake - the best all around D man in the West in my opinion; Liles - among the rising offensive D-men. A lot of rising tallent to hold the 2nd and 3rd lines (and the 1st line in a couple years) in the forms of Wolski and Svatos (one of the top 1st year players until an injury knocked him out of the race). Strong checkers who still have the ability to score in the way of Hinote and LaPerrier to hold the 4th line. And - noone can forget about Sakic, Hejduk and Tanguay - all of whom been racing for titles in the area of goals and points over the last 4 years.

Also - look at the players who do not get a chance to play. Wolski was tearing it up in the minors - won player of the month for 4 months in a row. This man would be a king in lesser franchises - but doesn't even get a spot in the Aves line-up. Brad May as well...true - he is much older, but could easily hold himself on a 2nd or 3rd line on a lesser team.

All and all - Aves are a force

I would have to go with the San Jose Sharks all because of their awesome goaltending between the pipes, and great defense, and also because of 2 excellent forwards in Jonathan Cheechoo and Joe Thornton. The trade that the Sharks made with the Bruins for Thornton has really paid off big time!

the red wings, and i am not a fan of theirs, it is just true. the play well, trade well, generally coached well, draft well, and occasionally win it all.

just one of the criteria, drafting. last 15 years their first pick averages WORSE than 40th overall, yet they still have 10 of their own picks playing for them this year and four of THOSE topped 50 points this season.

my second choice would be the devils. a bit down this year, but very tough choices on money and players has worked out remarkably well over a long time. having a shut down team d and a solid goalie don't hurt...
