What causes severe swelling and pain in the knees?

I'm almost 21 and I'm experiencing severe pain in my knees all of the time. They get so swollen that I have stretch marks on my knees.

I also have pain in my other joints and a bad immune system, and barely any energy.

Can this be related?

Update:

I'm taking a Glucosamene supplement.

sounds like Lupus, with a side-dish of arthritis. You should see a doctor and stay out of the sun. Sunlight triggers Lupus episodes in some people.

It could be many things, but a visit to a doctor to check your rheumatoid factors may be in order. Polyarthraligia (pain in multiple joints) with swelling, weakness, or instability can be signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis, on the other hand, is usually felt in one joint at a time. A visit with a doctor would be the best bet!

Constant jumping could be associated, but if you do workouts where your knees take a lot of pressure then you should ease down on that. However, working out helps your joints because blood flow circulates better.

Arthritis. Try Glucosimine and Condriotan. These can be purchased over the counter. I'd say they could be related and you should see a ortho specialist as soon as possible.

  • I'm not sure about your other problems, but the only time my knees swell and hurt is when I pull and stretch the tendons.
