Eventually, of course. Gas is not like air. There is only a limited supply. Some predict it will take another 40 years to run out of gas that number includes China's booming infrastructure. I just hope someone develops a replacement, or I'll have to go to the horseracing track and start looking for a potential transporter.

Well, the USA has already run out of the gas of common sense, the gas of representative government, the gas of decency and respect for the Almighty, the gas of sensible decisions by Congress, the gas of leadership from the White House, and the gas of integrity in the Republican Party. So, I guess it won't really matter when the gas pumps go dry.

You are right, once the war with Iran starts then gas will really go up. Doesn't seem to be any to avoid this problem. China is a huge market and once the chinese have 2 cars to a family the price of gas will be $5 or more a gallon.

The really fun days of moving around at will and cheap gas are over, we are being forced to conserve. Long commutes to work will become impossible.

the uS will never run out because the US doesn't own any gas. we live in a global energy market so we're all supposed to run out at the same time.

in reality it will cost over 5$/gallon by winter. once people can't afford the SUV's it'll stabilize. but a lot of people will not be able to afford any gas while others will still be driving their suv's even at 10$/gallon.

but the price isn't going down. there's too much money involved.

the whole war was about raising the price of oil and using the extra money to pay american debts. it's more complicated than that but you can be sure bush did not spend a trillion dollars stealing iraq's oil just to sell it for less. :)

no. nowhere will "run out" of gas. it will just become extremely expensive and uneconomical. gasoline supply if graphed as a function of time will never reach zero, just approach it asymptotically as the price rises and rises.

No, all we have to do is drill in ANWAR and offshore and build some refineries and we will be fine, if we can get the environmentalists to stay out of the courts to prevent us from getting the oil.
