Dinosaur anomaly?

Herbivorous dinosaurs were plentiful, like brontosaurus.

Today there are few herbivorous reptiles. Most eat bugs or animals. Were herbivorous reptiles doomed to extinction?

What's herbivorous today, besides iguanas and tortoises?

isn't that assuming that dinosaurs are the ancestors of reptiles. isn't there evidence that supports the idea that dinosaurs eventually evolved into birds? and if that's the case then there are plenty of herbivorous birds as well as carnivorous birds.

Notice that nowhere in my response do i say that dinosaurs evolve into reptiles :-) People need to learn to read.

Despite the events that caused the extinction of the majority of dinasaurs, the fact that we see few hervbiorous dinosaurs today does suggest that they were to be out competed by herbivorous mammals. Hervbivorous animals tend to be ver large since they need to consume large quantities of plants. Today there are few large reptiles, perhaps because they are less efficient than the mammalian equivalent or because todays carnivors could more easily hunt them.

Dinosaurs and reptiles both existed at the same time But were not related. What really set them apart from each other was that reptiles were largely splayed legged and dinosaurs stood straight over their legs. Most flying "dinosaurs" like pterodactyls were in fact reptiles. And even the plesiosaurs (like the Loch Ness monster) are actually swimming reptiles. These reptiles tended to be carnivorous.

coz the earth today is not the tropical paradise the dinosaurs were used to have in the past. today's earth is not too friendly to herbivorous animals.
