    It can be done, but it's sure a pain.

    First, don't mess with collection agents. You need to contact the creditor directly and see if they will deal with you.

    If they refuse, get it in writing. In the event that it goes to court, some judges may look favorably on you attempt to at least negotiate something, and may give you some repayment terms.

    I did. It used to be called Ameridebt, but some other company took it over. Money Management International (http://www.mmiaccount.org/) I am free and clear!

    I have not heard of anyone who has. Mainly you need to be careful about anyone who says they can repair your credit for a fee.../////////////////
