    in florence....

i would definitely recommend ristorante Acqua al Due

    see website: http://www.acquaal2.it/

i'd also recommend the following two restaurants in florence:

Cibrèo (Florence; tel. 055-234-1100): The amalgamated country-style decor of this restaurant belies its status as one of the city's finest kitchens. The dishes are Tuscan at heart -- though they buck the standard by serving no pasta and little grilled meat -- with innovative touches and plenty of peperoncino for spice. You may have to wait for an hour even with a reservation, but the wait is invariably worth it.

La Giostra (Florence; tel. 055-241-341): A closet prince and double Ph.D. decided in retirement to indulge his love of cooking and open this little-known fine restaurant a few blocks east of the Duomo. He doesn't stick strictly to Tuscan dishes, but rather lets his culinary imagination and half-Hapsburg heritage marry Italian and Austrian cooking, with occasionally spectacular results. He also makes the best Sacher torte this side of Vienna.

Rome's Best for People Watching: Restaurants surround the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiori, and the Spanish Steps.

Rome's Best for Fun: Miscellenea, near the Pantheon, the owner is great and he'll give you a free drink for talking to him. Plus, it's a hit for foreign study aboard college students.

Florence's Best for People Watching: Near the Piazza Republica and the Office Square near the Uffizi.

Florence's Best for Fun: Near Santa Croce and the east side. A lot of bars and clubs that's are a hit for Americans and locals. One place near Santa Croce has beer pong Mondays!

Have a good trip and get a good guide book like Rick Steve's, Lonely Planet, or the Blue Book.

Florence is a good city to spend your holyday; see more with hotelbye . Florence's museums, palaces, and churches house a few of the best imaginative gifts in the world. The most popular and important museum in Florence are: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello and the Accademia. Churches like: Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce are veritable art galleries. In Florence you can even begin to see the great and diverse art selection stored in the Pitti Palace. The Palazzo Pitti (The Pitti Palace) is just a big 15th century palace located on the calmer south bank of the Arno River. The palace was number of years the residence of Florence's rulers till 1919, when it had been passed over to the Italian state, which developed the palace in to a museum complex. Notwithstanding its metamorphosis, from elegant residence to a state-owned community building, the palace however retains the air and environment of a personal collection in a great house.

Any local places are awesome! If you're just visiting, maybe ask some of the locals or someone at the hotel/hostel you're staying at.

A lot of times they'll have a tourist menu where you can choose two courses, and get bread, dessert, wine and coffee for one price. Very cool.
