You did say "recent" - oops - I own a 1991 Explorer and LOVE it. If I could afford it, I would buy a 1993 F150 'cos they have great reviews and I love TRUCKS. I like to be riding ABOVE the small cars so I can see what's ahead - my explorer has been an awesome truck and has well over 130,000 on it so far. I am Ford/Mercury Faithful, and have owned + loved in the past - a Pinto, Cougar XR7, Boss 302, 1940 Coupe Deluxe, Grand Marquis, Country Squire, 1950 Pickup, Fairmont, and 2 Lincolns.

Non recent, but have a '69 Mustang Mach 1 428CJ, I have that because I have always liked the look of the '69, and because it has a big-block & 4 speed. My other is a '96 Bronco, full size with 302 & 5 speed. I drive that because it will go anywhere, haul whatever I need, has 3 pedals on the floor and 8 cylinders under the hood, and a blue oval on the grill. I think Ford trucks are better built than the others, and if they do break, they are easy and cheap to fix.

The only recent Ford I own is an '05 Crown Victoria. I bought it because, after a high speed cross country trip, I had to lay up my '72 Galaxie for repairs for a while. I also have a '67 Galaxie and a '73 F-100. All of them are wonderful and my long history with the older cars is the main reason I decided to buy a full-size rear-wheel-drive Ford V-8 when I decided to get a new car.

    I own 3 Ford cars:

1992 Grand Marquis 200K miles on the original 4.6L engine, but transmission went out at 80,000 miles. Replaced with a remanufactured Jasper transmission.

2000 Ford Taurus, 80,000 miles on the original 3.0L engine and transmission. Has good power and acceleration.

2004 Grand Marquis 5K miles 4.6L engine- no problems so far and it seems to be a lot of car for the 21K I paid for it.

So all three cars have derivatives of Ford's modular engine, and the engines seem to perform well and last a long time. However, I've used Mobil One synthetic oil in all my cars since 1980 and attribute much of the engine longevity to using synthetic oil.

My dad has a Ford F-150 and he seems to like it. And the two trucks he had before that one were also F-150s. I think he likes them because he can haul wood and other stuff in the box. The one he has now he recently had to have in the shop to do something with the alternator or something but it seems to be running great and he doesn't seem to be having many problems with it.

I "HAD" a brand new '00 Ford Ranger. Owned it for 1 year. Put 3 transmissions in it.

I will not buy another Ford product for a very long time.

We have 2002 Ford Focus ZX5 I use for hauling stuff around and daily commuting. I like it, fits a lot of stuff, especially with the rear seats down. I don't take as good care of it as I should, but it's been fantastic. The only thing I don't like is the center console has a storage area that's kind of high.

Ford Focus: Amazing on Gas. Drove from From Lauderdale to Miami Beach in a quarter of a tank of gas. It's a 45mins-1 hour drive. Drives smoothly on the highway.
