If dying is shadow and darkness why some report seeing a bright white light when they had a near death exp?

firstly there is no concrete certifiable proof (as far as i know) of what near death exp actually are. many scientist have suggested it is just a form of hallucination, but most people would like to believe otherwise.

As for shadow and darkness part, that is your conception on the matter, and a very common one in western cultures. Not everyone have such a dark view about death. In some asian cultures death is represented by the colour white, not black.

So the answer i believe is that it is conflict in your perception of what death is.

Latest reports in the news say that NDE's are almost identical to REM sleep, in terms of brain waves. These studies are pretty new, so we'll need more info, but it seems like in REM sleep, the brain triggers bright flashes as well as visual and auditory hallucinations; it's just that, when we're asleep, we know them as dreams.

Here's a thought. If the Bible ties death with darkness, why do NDE folks report brightness? Hmmm. In a state nearly identical to REM, the creative part of the brain (or the subconscious, if you like) is more open to suggestion. Who would like you to think you were dying and heading somewhere nice, if you really weren't, except the devil, trying to claim another soul?

First of all I know the bible and I would like to see this verse and if you know this verse did you read the surrounding story maybe these people were in deep do do cuz of their sins, don't you know when you are born you pass through the vaginal canal and your heart stops? you go from the world you know (but can't remember now) and literaly "die" your heart stops and you are born. When you leave this earth the same thing happens again your heart stops you pass through another, lets just say "tunnel" or canal and you are what ...............Born again? Yeah I guess thats what you would call it. There is no darkness where life begins why would there be darkness when you are going to meet the one person who's very first words were "Let there be light"

The light is a train comming at them from the other end of the tunnel.

when we die, we all have to face the judgement seat of Christ. as He is light....

the thing is, those people who have had "near death" experience, under line near death, have not really died as they came back.
