I have identical twin sons, why do people ask if they are twins?

i also have twin sons and get asked if they are twins all the time. No idea why...Another thing that drives me nuts is when they say, "You really have your hands full, don't you..." No S**T Sherlock!

Some identical people are not twins. They want to confirm with you whether your sons are actually twins. These type of people do not wish to take thing for granted, they want confirmation

Because some couples have kids one right after another and some families look VERY alike. I think it's very obvious in most cases and people just want to know for sure out of curiosity, since most people won't experience that. A better question to get the affirmation they desire might be "Which one was born first?"

My sister and I are close in age and we look just alike. We have even used each other's DL (not the best thing for most to try). BUT we are not twins. We have people ask us all the time. Just because you look alike does not mean you are twins. The people asking are not stupid. They just were not in the delivery room.

Well in my family people do the same thing. My sisters are a year apart but people constantly ask if they are twins. At least they can tell they are related.

But, for those who are smart and still ask the question this is what they are trying to ask:

"Do your twins share the same DNA (identical) or do they just look alike and have different DNA (fraternal)?"

People know they are twins, but they just ask to start a conversation with you.

Because they don't want to make assumptions? People used to think I was twins with my brother, but we are a year apart in age.

People normally do it just to confirm their suspicions, as stupid as that sounds. Just like see if it looks like it is going to rain outside, people are always asking someone else, "is it supposed to rain today?" even though it looks like it is going to rain. To assume as they say that makes an *** out of you and me. As stupid as it seems, people just don't want to assume they would much prefer just ask and confirm what it appears to be.

Next time when asked this again, just say they are NOT! Then they will insist to you they are seeing double. In the end they will answer their own question!
