does any body have a solar panel and why?

i know a few people who power their whole house through solar panels on thier roof. some of them have been in place for 15years with no maintenence trouble.

Solar water heaters - works excellently in my part of the country. Piping hot water even in the middle of winter - of course, subject to the cloud cover on the previous day.

I have one that keeps my car battery charged if it has to be parked without being driven for a spell. They gave it to me at the dealership when I bought the car. Kind of a cool idea but I've never had a reason to use it.
