Does eveyone know that the Qur'an has Moses's sister as the mother of Jesus?

I can say with absolute certainty that not everybody knows that.

I am christian, but I will say that Moses was a levi priest. Mary was the daughter of a Levi priest. Then Mary would be in the lineage of Moses. The name Mary is Miriam meaning sister of Moses. Are you serious? Wow. I know people lived a lot longer back in the Bible times. Take Methuselah---he lived to be 900 or so, didn't he? I thought he was the oldest person till I read this about Moses' sister being alive 1500 earlier! Wow! That Muhammad really knows his stuff.

Has anyone else read this person's last question about Allah being Satan? What kind of Christian are you? The church I go to tells us that we should never discriminate other religions, and that includes the majority of the Muslims who have been wronged for a lot of misconceptions about their Quran and their prophet. I am a catholic dating a muslim, and we are both proud of it. We hope our kids will one day think of Islam and Christianity as the two most sacred religions that guide us into nothing less than eternal life and wisdom. And yes, as someone else had answered to that qn, both religions are very much alike. Every religion has extremists, don't us Christians do too? I am not going to point any fingers. I'm sorry but saying derogatory stuff about other religions is a reflection of mere ignorance on your part. You and your ignorance are the PERFECT reason Al-Qaida has for bombing the US.

The name in English of Moses' sister is translated Miriam, and the mother of Jesus is translated Mary, by tradition only. Actually, the name was always Miriam or Mariam or Mariama, depending on the particular writer. What we call these people in English is the result of traditions and translations.

So if the Qu'an calls the mother of Jesus Miriam or Mariam or the like, it is actually more acurate and closer to the original than European tradition has it.

I don't think that a guy who slanders other people's religion should call himself "I love Jesus."

Do you that the Jesus has already told his nation that the Messeger of GOD MUHAMMAD (P.B.U.H) was coming to guide the people, and the Moses had told his nation the same thing? did you knew that, the Quran is the most precious and the most true and the most readful book of the world , The GOD says that " To fllow the commands of MUHAMMAD (P.B.U.H) is to follow MY COMMANDS " , and if you still dont believe, then believe that there is a time coming that you will be in front of the GOD and you will be asked about what had you done in the world ?

I don't think it refers to Moses's sister. It may call Mary by the name Miriam (which was also the name of Moses's sister), but that is because Miriam would be closer to the name that she was called in Aramaic. Jesus' name was actually Yeshua in Aramaic.

And you clever man ... who told you that the Quraan mentions that Virgin Mary was Moses sister ...

You better read well the Quraan itself rather than copying from some idiots who want to distort the ISLAM ...

Nothing is contradicted in Quraan ... if you want to mislead the readers better you give us some proofs of what you say

Are you so insecure about your religion that you have to tell lies to discredit Islam in some way? Its a very foolish thing to do since all of this is very easily verifiable right off the internet. I am uncertain however as to whether your religion condones lieing and slander of other people and their religions?
