what's sad is that you had enuff time to sat down and come up with a question that stupid.

remember, all mighty God can do anything. There's no way that he can make a rock so big and heavy he himself can't pick it up, that's just wrong. However he can make it as big as he wants or as little as he wants. But theres no way that he can't make it so heavy that he can't lift it up.

(Sorry if this gets technical, I know it will) Well God can do just about anything, except there's one problem: he can't do it directly himself. He can apply forces of nature which will eventually move it but you can't just pray to God to get a huge boulder out of your yard and expect to find in China in 3 seconds.Sure some religions think that God can take on a physical state and/or move anything He wants to at His disposal but as far as I see Him that's not going to happen. Plus he isn't exactly magical. Well actually he's not exactly anything we can accurately describe since we've never known much about Him except through religion and things like that.

i would advise not to think up such foolish questions....they just foster strife and arguments....think on things that edify, things that are pure, holy, and lead to edification....pertaining to the rock question...God is never limited by this physical world, seeing that His Word created it...by speaking He could move or destroy or create ANYTHING...."look! no hands"...:)...its also good to note that size and weight has nothing to do with God's ability to pick up...seeing God is everywhere, and lives in a world that we cannot humanly see with or without scientific instruments, and that by and through and for His Word all was created, then that means everything that existed would have to be that one rock, and even then, a simple word would move it, or destroy it, or transform it....however.....in essence, yes to your question...because Jesus is the Rock, and he will never change, so figuratively speaking God created a Rock that he cannot "move" since His word never changes, by creating a physical manifestation of His Word, He made a Rock that cannot be moved....

Ah! the ominpotent paradox.. this has been asked many, many, many, many, many times.
Each time someone asks this questions it stirs up a honest nest.
This question is meant to debate the concept of god, yet the religious right get offended by this and resort to things such as wanting questions like this banned rather than accept it as a way to OPEN the mind of people; but NOO!
they want people to remain CLOSE minded rather than OPEN-MINDED

No, He cannot. Nor does it disprove the fact that He's All powerful.
This is an inherit paradox that one runs across when dealing with infinity or infinite properties (of which Omnipotence is one).
Case in point: There are an infinite number of Integers. One of the properties of Integers is that n + 1 will get you the next integer. Yet, infinity + 1 = infinity which is the same. Yet that doesn't disprove that there is an infinite number of Integers.

How old is this question?
Still, it's an oldey but goodey.
It points out that the idea of an omnipotent god is illogical. Still, many religions are surrounded in illogical ideas.
Good luck in your attempts to bring logic and rational thought to others.

yes. God can do anything.
This means that God can make a rock too hevay for him to pick up.
But, since he can do everything, including the "impossible," he can also pick a up a rock that is too heavy for him to pick up.

God is not HUMAN with human strength so it's irrelevant to discuss God not being able to do something that's difficult for a human. God is all powerful.

According to your probable answer, no, because he doesn't exist.
However, if he did exist, he could not, because no matter how big he made the rock, he could always pick it up no matter what.

This is an interesting paradoxal question!
Baron von Münschhausen was able to lift himself by pulling his own hair. Can you believe that?
