Catholics - Did Mary need Christ's sacrifice?

For anyone who's knowledgeable in Catholicism:

I've been taught that Christ died for the sins of all people and that no one is good enough to make it into heaven on their own, but if Mary was conceived without sin, did she really have any need of Christ's sacrifice? This has always been a point I wasn't sure about.

Update:

The Church also believes she lived without sin.

Update 2:

Thanks for your answers, but I think you might be misunderstanding me. I'm really looking for something from a Catholic perspective.

Also, Catholics don't worship Mary and never have. Ask one!

To begin with, start from the fact that God created space and time. Eternity is the absence of time in God's terms, as opposed to our human finite understanding of time. We are fixed in earth time; today, yesterday, tomorrow time.

To evaluate Mary's position you have to see it from God's time as well as ours. Christ's sacrifice moved into God's time and therefore made Mary's Immaculate Conception possible before the beginning of years.

Therefore in our time, no, Mary didn't need Christ's sacrifice.

So she did and didn't need Christ's death and resurrection to assure her of eternal life.

I hope this helps. Thank God for Einstein!

Yes, Mary did need the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to enter the kingdom of Heaven even though she was "full of grace" (born without original sin and did not commit personal sin).

Without Jesus dying on the cross the gates of heaven would have been closed to all mankind.

    With love in Christ.

I'm an ex-Catholic. Mary was not conceived without sin... some pope made that up (the Immaculate Conception) a few hundred years ago. Mary was chosen by God for reasons not completely known to us, tho the bible does say she believed immediately. But she was no different from you and me in the sin department.

Mary was human and just as sinful as the rest of us. God found favor with her and thus she became the mother of Jesus who had to be born into this world of woman so that he too had a share of the sin of Adam.

When Jesus died for our sins he died for Mary as well Neither she nor anyone else is getting to God any other way. Mary could not save herself and she cannot save you no matter what the Cahtolic so called Church might tell you. You ar all decieved in worshiping Mary for she is no more than you

I don't know.... I've never thought abou it. I'd guess he would have died for her. But, if a more definative answer, contact the US Bishops Office. They don't appear to have e-mail, but they do have a snail-mail address. The web page i found it on also has an online version of the catholic catchism, so you can look there for yourself.

Romans 3:23 For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Honey I'm not a Catholic, but I do know that if you seek knowledge from The Bible, and ask for God's guidance you will receive you're answer. Good Luck

Well she may have been conceived without sin but we are not sure about later in life. If Jesus said there is no one good, then I would think that he knows what he is talking about.

Jesus was also the son of God and was God. He made the 10 commandments said " honor thy mother and thy father so I am sure that Jesus honored his mother and Father. He was not hypocritical.

Ummm, Correction, She CONCIEVED without sin.

Where do you refer to with the "Was concieved without sin"?

She was a human like any other.

Given to sin like me and you.

We all need Christ's sacrifice and forgiveness to cover our sinful flesh. Including Mary. (All of them)

    Yes.

The fall of Adam and Eve caused all of humanity to belong to sin. We are born into sin because of our parents.
