I thought I better ask it cos someone will soon. Opinions on Steve McClaren?
In one light it's good to lose 7-0 to Arsenal one day then qualify for the UEFA Cup Final the next, but is the Middlesboro man really the man for us?

This is the worst decision the FA could have possibly made. McLaren has contrived to underacheive with one of the most talented sides in the league. As I write this Boro is in 13th place. Why did they have to pick an English manager when there was obviously no qualified English candidate? They should have hired Guus Hiddink. The FA has condemned England to at least 2 more years of mediocrity.
On the bright side, I hope he picks Stuart Pearce or Paul Jewell to be his deputy.

the safe option. Has no real experience and no big trophies behind him but i hope that changes on wednesday night. Up there in terms of best English manager but certainly not in the top 5 when you look at the options the F.A. had. He will live and die by his results but if England perform badly in Germany his nightmare will have already begun and if they do well then the pressure is really on. I don't think he realised it but by accepting the job he is now in a "no win" situation

For all that this league season wasn't the best for him and the Boro, he has proven on many occasions that he has the ability to bring the best out of players. Also he has been working with the England team for a long time and he is well respected by all players he has been involved with. The only dissapointment is where will this leave the Boro?

i think it was good choice if it had to be Engishman but if u look from the global aspects of managers they might have been 3 or 4 coaches that wud have had more experienced. But personally i believe McLaren can produce miracles just like he did in the eafacup 1/4 final and semifinal.

I would have rather had BIG SAM, but at least we've got an English coach.
