Lilly of the valley?

I'm doing some new landscaping around the house, I've got Lilly of the valley already growing and I love it, But I think I need some color in there. I need some flowers that can hold thier own against LOV and can grow in almost complete shade. I'd like to do a Perennial, But an Anual is ok too.

LOV are known for spreading very quickly and I'm afraid if I plant anything else there, LOV will take over and not let the new flower blossom..

Any ideas?

There are several plants that will compete with LOV and add some color to the area while tolerating the shade. Here are a few:

    Fern, Ostrich Plume

    Bleeding Heart

    Day lilies

    Monarda

Hostas, Blue, Green and White, Royals

    Violas

    Forget-me-Nots
