The windshield is broken on the car I want to sell, is it worth it to get it fixed first?

It would need a whole new windshield.

Yup. If not, the buyer will want a discount on the price because he's going to have to get it fixed anyway. Better to just get it done now.

If the first thing a buyer sees is a broken windshield, you can bet he's wondering what else is broken, and he wont give you as good a price for the car.

You're going to pay for it one way or the other. No one will give as much for a vehicle with a broken windshield as they will for a whole one. A new windshield may be worth more in sale value than it costs. It depends of the car. I replaced a Ford F150 windshield for around 150 bucks. I also have an Odyssey van. The windshield for it is over 600 bucks. Check around and see what it will cost. If you can raise the price enough to cover half the cost of the windshield it is probably worth doing.

Usually you will get more for a car if the car looks good. A broken windshield makes a bad first impression of a vehicle. Get it fixed, it will be worth it!

Probably because anybody buying it is going to subtract the cost of the windshield from the price they pay. PLus, with a busted windshield, it's going to look like you didn't take care of the car, so they'll knock some $$$ off for that as well.

    Good luck!

If a new windshield is only $250 and it will increase the value of your car then go ahead and do it. Otherwise, be ready to go down on the price. Remember, the looks of the car, how clean it is, and shiny wheels and tires will increase the value a lot. Do what you can without spending a fortune.

would you buy a car with a broken windshield?? might cost you 200bucks to replace, but might get double on the investment (on top of what you are trying to sell for right now with the broke windshield, 400 bucks more) if the rest of the car is in good shape.

If you have comprehensive insurance on it, and your deductible is less than the price of the window, go for it.

Otherwise, if your car is sort of a junker anyway, don't bother. If it's clean and relatively new and could sell for decent money (over $2,000), it's worth the cost of the windshield to not turn away possible customers.

yes, it's better to replace the broken windshield

with a new and unbroken one (Ü) before selling it.

if you sell it as it is, tendency is for people

to bargain and push you to sell it for a lower price

    and you wouldn't want that,would you?they may have a

point, your windshield's a mess. but if you have it

fixed before selling it, chances are you would get a

fair offer for your car. and no further questions

to be thrown at you. they would think nothing has

happened to it. sounds like a rip-off? no. it's true.you had it fixed, right?

and second hand cars are a risk. it all depends

on how well you do in sales talk.good luck! Ü

  • That really depends on how old the car is, how low the mileage, and how good it looks. And can you really expect to get back the price of a new windshield?

And why don't you have comprehensive insurance with no deductible on glass?

A new windshield only costs about $250. It is worth making your car look it's best to attract buyers. (you should get it detailed too!)
