Why do Christians believe that Jesus' crucifixion was really God sending his only son to die for our sins?
Please, no fanatics trying to convert me. Only legit answers that give a logical explanation. Oh, and also please try not to make your answers as long as the Bible. Thank you.

I am a Jewish believer in Jesus. I have come to believe in Jesus for many reasons. But THE most important reason why I believe that Jesus is the Son of God is because He fulfilled prophecy.
You have to realize that God had promised the Jewish people a redeemer, a savior, a MESSIAH. Over the years God revealed more and more what this Messiah was supposed to do and who He was supposed to be. All Jewish people were looking for the Messiah to rescue them from oppression and usher in the age of peace and universal worship of God. There are over 200+ prophecies concerning the Messiah. There are at least 90 concrete definite prophecies concerning the Messiah. Jesus fulfilled them all. No other person could have done that or will ever do that. Most specifically the Messiah was predicted to come by Daniel before the second Temple was destroyed. If the Messiah has not come yet and the second Temple was destroyed in 70AD then He will NEVER come. BUT if He did, than it could only have been Jesus (Y'shua in Hebrew).
God revealed that the Messiah would first come to settle the issue of sin and bring all people's to Himself, then He would physically come down and usher in the age of peace. That's why all believers in Jesus are confident that Jesus died on the cross and suffered in their place for their own sins as the once-for-all sacrifice. In fact, Jewish tradition in the talmud states that the Temple sacrifice on Yom Kipur (the Jewish Holy Day of Atonement, the most sacred holiday of the year) ceased to be accepted by God exactly 40 years before the destruction of the Temple. The Jewish people would sacrifice the main sacrifice for all the people of Israel and God would provide several signs that the sacrifice was accepted. But 40 years before the Temple was destroyed these sacrifices ceased to be accepted. Why? What happened 40 years before the Temple's destruction? It turns out that 30AD was the year Jesus was sacrificed as the once-for-all sacrifice for all people for all time. No other sacrifice was necessary anymore. Which explains why God stopped accepting the animal sacrifices for the next 40 years until the Temple was no more.
I know this was long but it was necessary to explain something as complex as your question asked. Hope this helps.

Well, first of all, there were eyewitness accounts (the gospels) to his resurrection. It would be impossible to make a short answer as to why I believe those accounts. Suffice to say that I have read up on it, and I find the reasoning to be valid. One good book about this is Letters From a Skeptic by Dr. Gregory A. Boyd.
Second, I have experienced a personal relationship with God by accepting Jesus... I've experienced miracles, I've had prayers answered, and I see the evidence of God in my life every day.

Because I sense a degree of genuine interest-however small; allow me to share my time and energy with you. I promise to fall far short of the 66 Books of the Bible if you agree to read my answer; especially the Scripture versus I supply, since that is the source of our beliefs. Every religion is based on believe. You either do or don’t. I can't argue you into believing, nor will I try. "A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still,".
But first, allow me to tell you why you will NOT receive what I or any other Christian has to say: John 3:11... I most solemnly say to you, we know what we are talking about and we have seen what we are testifying to, yet you are all rejecting our testimony. If you do not believe the EARTHLY THINGS I tell you, how can you believe the HEAVENLY THINGS, if I tell you about them? .....Pretty straightforward. If you don't believe in the simple historical facts of Jesus, who by every testimony of honest men, lived a perfect sinless life and was crucified and most importantly was resurrected, how can you ever believe the things told you about heavenly facts which require a greater faith to believe? Greater because no one has been to heaven and returned to report on it, as the Apostles faithfully reported and recorded the earthy life of Christ.
But, in spite of that warning, I will (foolishly) attempt to answer your question. Why, because I love you, even though I don't know you. Not because of who you are , what you are, how rich you are, how beautiful you are, but because WHY you are. You are made in His image and for His Glory.
Who in America has not heard and seen the famous John 3:16 versus. We inundated with that verse, even at sporting events! Sorry sports fans. But it does answer your question very succinctly. Please read it again- for the first time, as the commercial (for something) goes.
John 3:16 "For GOD loved the world so much that He GAVE His Only Son, so that anyone who trusts in Him may never perish but have eternal life.
John 3:17 For GOD sent His Son into the world, not to pass sentence on it, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Again, straightforward and simple, so simple that even a child could understand it, if they choose to. It was God doing the sending. And the purpose is revealed there as well-that the world might be saved. Of course, there are many other Scripture versus that inform us that it was Christ death, not His well lived life or good example, that saves us. But I'll spare you all the gory details-and it was gory. The crucifixion, that is.
Thank you...if you made it this far. If so, it proves me right; that there WAS a measure of interest. I hope this increases that small measure to a still greater one. Otherwise it was profitable, if only to elucidate you to the reasons why you won't believe. In love, Mike

If you read the whole Bible, you will see that God wants humans to love HIM freely,so He gives them a choice. Also, He KNOWS what we will do, before we do it...So, we have free will, we can go along and believe or disbelieve, until we die...
At which point, we can stand before God, clothed in our own righteousness... which Isaiah 64:6 calls-"filthy rags" ( bloody menstrual cloth of the first birth) ,or covered with the Blood of Christ, (see Exod. 12 - "when I see the blood, I Will pass over") as the twice born, sons of God(Jn.3:3;1:12)
I've already decided for myself: I Cor.13, Which will you choose? your friend, jimbo

read Genesis 15:7-18
when God and Abram made a covenant, God become the lower.
in those days a inferior party would walk through. God knew that human kind would fail so He paid the price.

Because that is what the Bible teaches and they believe the Bible to be God's holy word.

Because the Bible is accepted as Gospel, and the Bible says that God did it.
