Well depending on how severe u have it it could be mild and able to live a normal life or severe and it could be very debilitating. Lupus is like a roller coaster. Some days will be good and some will be bad. Just strap in and hold on. It can cause different kinds of pain. The most common is joint pain. Again anywhere from mild to severe. Good luck!

Systemic Lupus is an auto immune disorder that affects the nerve impulses that control certain organs and muscles. There are over 170 different types of Lupus. My best advice would be to search the www and find a local support group from your area.

Your symptoms can range any where from mild -joint pain & fatigue to severe -organ involvement. Treatments will vary depending on your symptoms. You need to avoid stress, stay out of the sun (even driving in the car) and avoid chemicals in your body care and food (especially Aspartame found in diet products as it has been linked to Lupus & MS).

Work with a doctor that will listen to you and and take an active role in your health care because it is your body! You should be working with a Rheumatologist by now and if not you should ask your M.D. for a referrel. Learn to rest when your body needs to by not pushing yourself. If you are prescribed Prednisone make sure to take Calcium because it can weaken your bones. Don't believe anyone that tells you that you have a certain amount of time to live because it's not true. You will just have to modify your life and take care of yourself conciously! Asking God for guidence is also helpful in addition to a Lupus support group and family and friends that you trust.
