Different religions Fact or falacy?

The truth is the truth regardless of what language you use. If you seek it, it will find you, and often it will come from unlikely places.

It is true that one language does not always translate perfectly into another language. The reason we know that we can trust the Bible, which ever one it may be, is because when we really look into the archaeological finds, the scientific discoveries and the psychology of human nature...you will see how the Bible touches on all of these venues. Many people get hung up on the idea that men wrote the Bible, when in fact, God inspired some 40 different men to write it. The oldest manuscripts that are still in existence have been examined and compared to modern translations of the Bible and found to be accurate. If you look in the preface of most Bibles, you will find that the publishers give reason for removing God's original name from it and replacing it with the titles of LORD or GOD. Other than this, most versions/translations all teach the same thing. The main point is to make sure that what is being preached from the platform IS based on the Bible, and not man's traditions. (Matthew 15:3)

I think that the Bible we have today is translated well from Latin and Greek. We have to go back to the days of Constantine to find where the real fallacies entered the text. During the 3rd century AD the Emperor of Rome (Constantine) organized a conference of highly reputed "Bishops" from the Empire. It was their task to main-stream Christianity and form the Church as we know it today.

These Bishops with "help" from the Government assembled what we call the bible today. There were many loose texts floating around, many claimed to have the true word of God. But there was also a lot of strange texts too. The counsel edited the finial copy of what later would become the bible that we use today.

But we now know today that many text were excluded that were in fact credible scripture. And many theories are floating around that some wrong accounts of Jesus entered the bible. And there were definitely many bad translations into Greek and Latin.

For example, the virgin Mary was supposed to be a virgin, but when the original text was translated into Greek, Mary who was a "young woman" in the original texts, was turned to "virgin" in Greek.

Or what about the first five books of the old testament, how do they compare to the Jewish Torah? Well you are going to find out things have changed a lot.

And by the way the word Messiah doesn't mean son of God, God, or any form of God at all. The Jews invented the word, and they had no intention the word would be used to mean a human god.

A human god? They must have got something wrong in the translations. Or could it have been Constantine himself that made Jesus God, since the Romans had a long history of making living men Gods.

It is more important to get an overall understanding of the scriptures of the bible. More detailed study is necessary for a detailed understanding however.

First, look at the way the bible is laid out. We have 3 eras of time:

Times Past = Genesis - Acts

But Now = Romans - Philemon

Ages to Come = Hebrews - Revelation

If you take "BUT NOW" out of the bible, you have a book that is entirely Jewish, written to, about and for the Jewish people - having nothing to do with us Gentiles.

This is the beginning of understanding the scriptures. God wanted to give His mercy to the people of Abraham - Israel, but they insisted they didn't need His righteousness and could establish their own by their performance.

God already knew they could not be righteous by their performance but they insisted on being given a set of rules by which could prove their worth. Leviticus 26 outlines the program and they said, "All You have said, we will do."

The rules were broken and the covenant remained in effect all through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. (The New Covenant does not begin in Matthew - Jesus & the 12 were still trying to get Israel to repent and accept their Messiah and the Law was very much in effect. As a matter of fact the law was very much in effect at Pentecost - a wholly Jewish gathering.)

The modern church (the Body of Christ) originated with the conversion of Paul on the road to Damascus. Paul was made the apostle to the Gentiles. (The 12 were the apostles to the circumcision - Jews)

Yes, there are mistakes in the KJV but it is nontheless a very accurate account and none of the discrepancies would cause a mistake in the major doctrine that is presented.

The main thing to know is that the Jews couldn't make their own righteousness and we can't either. There is none good, no not one.

Abraham's belief was counted unto him as righteousness.

You're right about the translation problem...many things are different with different translators. However the basic theme remains the same and that is where people need to place their faith.

Rather than becomes so entrenched in religion, people would be better served to follow their own spirit which comes from God...it is love. Religion should be more about community and reminding ones self of what we are and why.

However many times The King James Bible has been translated, it is clearly not fact. There are multiple references to magic and all kinds of impossible acts of transmutation and wizardry. An interesting insight into the minds of people desperate to understand and come to terms with this strange phenomenon we're living through and this incredible place we live, perhaps. But not fact.

Of course you are correct. A bigger question is what is the accurate version of the bible in the first place? I mean how do you even know that what you are trying to translate is even totallly true in the first place? Where did it come from? And even if it is in the original language (aramaic?) how do you know if the folks who wrote it down had the exact truth?

the Bible is the oldest living book in existance, it is the Word of God written by man inspired by the Holy Spirit, but you are right in saying that it has been written several times and could have lost some of its true wording, but you have to realize that if you are reading the Bible in the first place then you know that the only true way to get to the father is through his son Jesus Christ... that is the true meaning of any Christian Bible.. and if you have a personal relationship with Christ then the Holy Spirit will reveal everything else in the scriptures that He wants you to know... grow in knowlege and He will reveal the truth...

The bible is the word of God. But, where Christians miss the mark is following the book and not the Spirit.

God allowed errors in that book, for a reason. Read the book, follow the Spirit.

I think the original languages are best, but translations are necessary. The KJV is unquestionably one of the worst translations out there, sad that it has such a cultlike following.

people are an exciting species. We each and every have distinctive reviews. because of the fact I "dream" regarding the excellent Spirit makes MY faith actually fabulous. subsequently, all others are nonsense?!?! all of us are linked. i'm undecided why we would desire to segregate ourselves to a million different ideals. No "one" faith is stable. neither is merely "one" religious 2nd. i think of that's approximately transforming into, to be the terrific individual interior and out. despite street that would take you....bypass with it. i used to be an exceedingly religious catholic. Then, I went the choice way...prevented any church like the plague. Then, I went Agnostic and now i think of i'm extra paegan....who knows of the place i will finally end up next. i've got had different religious, existence-changing reviews in my existence and NO faith has defined my circumstances so i will save vacationing till i discover ME interior the religion.
