I don't see a problem with a 12 year old seeing the movie. I found this:

MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for intense prolonged sequences of disaster and peril)

Depends on whether or not you ever want to take this child on a Carnival Cruise. You should see it first and then decide. No one else knows the maturity level of this child. Make this decision yourself and it will be the right one.

Why not, just look at the positive things you develop in seeing a movie.Your child can learn the effects used in the film and also the science, history and so many other things in the film.

I haven't seen the ratings yet but I'll probably take my 11 year old unless it has nudity/sexual content.

Yes, it should be pretty safe for a 12 year old because they don't get too graphic with anything.

If it was safe to show on television as an original TV movie, why would this third incarnation be different?

  • I saw it and my lil sis who's 12 too she thought it was awsome

you can just make sure the kid isnt sensitive to nightmares cuz i seen titanic and am still terrified of drowning and water.

I would say no.. The graphics are awesome. The way they portrayed the dead, was very gruesome and lifelike..
