Misapplied sense of empathy? They imagine themselves in your position and believe they would be miserable; Ergo you must be miserable because you ARE in that position. Damn them for caring...damn them all! (Heh)

Well for one any native family member is always looking out, cuz you know that if your content, it will only last so long...they just want to be there when you need change, make sense?
