How do I go about comparing schools academically...?

I need to find a school system located near my home that is comparable to the one my son goes to now.

How do I go about this? What type of questions do I ask?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

First, you must decide on which other school system you want to visit. Then, actually make a trip to the school department and talk with the superintendent or assisstant superintendent.

What you ask depends on what you want the school to be like. If you're looking for a strong academic school, ask about the state testing scores and how it compares to other school districts in the state. Also ask about how much each school's score has increased in the past few years.

Ask about the average SAT score of the students at the school and how it compares with other schools.

Finally ask about graduation and drop out rate, environment, and soci-economic background of the students attending the school.

If you're looking for a strong athletic school, ask about how many state titles the school has won in the past few years and how many All-Americans they have produced.

If everything seems fine, make sure you bring your son to visit the school.
