If earth is the only planet inhabited, are we the first or the last?

We don't know that earth is the only planet inhabited, for a start.

We have every reason to believe that we are the first intelligent species on this planet but our definition of 'intelligent species' is made up by us, so it's fatally flawed!

When Yahoo Answers opens up to the Universe, maybe we shall know if there's other intelligent life out there.

Maybe there is - maybe they are reading this now and laughing their socks off - maybe some of the answers are actually from aliens - who knows? Who am I? Who are you? Who is DarkStar?

Maybe Yahoo Answers has been set up by aliens to test our intelligence? (Is this how urban myths start?)

According to evidences which have been found our by scientist we can not say that the earth is the only planet that is inhibited by creatures because there has been evidence of traces of amino acids remains in the comets and in the moon. Thus according to cosmozoan theory which states that life on earth may have originated somewhere in the universe and it has been passed to the earth. ie may be the comets which fall in the planet earth may have brought the first creatures on earth.

Also we cannot say that we are the first because the treces show us that living organisms originated from physical and chemical laws thus the first organism that occured are said to be bacteria which have undergone drastic changes to form complex organisms. I would like to believe we are the first and the last,but we hear of aliens.So there could be others on other planets.

This question still persists in the mind of many scientists. For example there are 75% scientists at the NASA who believes that life( micro organisms) existed once on Mars and 25% believe that there is still life on Mars. Universe is fill of mysteries, there might be some dimensions in the space that are hidding the existence of other species... who knows..

earth wont be the only planet inhabited, when there r aliens. we wont be the first when there were dinosaurs long long ago.

We haven't gone as far as beyond the solar system to know whether there is also another existing 'life supporting' planet out there in the universe, who knows.
