The entire debate around the "Da Vinci Code" is based on the premise: people claim and believe that all that is written in this novel is absolutely true - while everything points toward the fact that the book is fiction (real characters & places, fictional and inacurate historical settings).

Why people believe that this is absolutely true?

Which one would be called fiction and which not:

1. I create fictional characters in a fictional historical setting.

2. I create fictional characters in a historical accurate frame. (like a novel about WWII for example)

3. I write about real people in an imaginary historical frame - but I take something from reality (like places, timeframe).

4. I write about real people in a real historical frame - I only make it very poetical.

How would each be called?

It is said: we are most like God when we forgive.

Yet, after God forgave us, He should have put us back to Eden - but he didn't. We still live in the consequences of the sin, although we are forgiven.

My question is therefore:

If somebody acts wrongly against another person and there are consequences to it (for example, a remaining physical injury) - if the offended part forgives the offender, does he have to act toward the person as if nothing has happened and "restore" them to previous relationship?

My step-daughter is a sweetheart, she loves me, I love her, she adores her father but still, she never tells us the truth. She is 18 and she has all the liberty she wants. We never beat her, nor do her any harm.

In what ways can we make her understand that lies are wrong in a relationship?

Two questions:

Are christians salty enough or are they losing their saltieness?

What causes losing the saltiness?

I heard of "Life is absence of death" and "Life is the opposite of death". Scientists even have difficulty defining it. Does anyone have any idea?

When the early christians were walking the Earth, it was said about them "these are the ones who turned the world upside down". I wonder if Christians have the same reputation today? What do you think when you look around you?

When I call another program from a VB Code after I close it properly in the VB project (set xx = nothing) the processes are still running in the background. What command line can I write to also kill those processes without having to close the calling program?

As I read through the questions placed in this section I am discerning that some use their freedom of speech to just ridicule Christians - shouldn't Christians take a stand instead of just bravely answer their mocking questions? Like reporting abuse?

to dress up nicely when we go to an event, or we go for dinner in a fancy restaurant. He just wants to go in jeans, t-shirt and sneakers to everything and he is mean if I ever suggest him to dress up - and we often end up in embarassing situations. Does anyone know of some nice ways to make him aware of this? Thank you for your answers.
