Are we just plain ridiculed because we believe in God?
As I read through the questions placed in this section I am discerning that some use their freedom of speech to just ridicule Christians - shouldn't Christians take a stand instead of just bravely answer their mocking questions? Like reporting abuse?
flyingphoenix - you are right I wouldn't report abuse because someone doesn't believe in God I would report abuse when someone mocks another person. What I meant is, that for example in Europe when a caricature ridiculed Mohammed the entire muslem world rose up to revolution! And what do Christians do when they are mocked? Give nice answers. :)
Yes rocky_road - when I said ridicule I meant when they get into blasphemy. I just thought that word would be too strong ...

Well, don't be quick to overgeneralize...
Atheists, like Christians, turn to atheism for different reasons. Some do it for intellectual reasons, others do it for emotional reasons. You must remember that there are far more "Christians" who condemn us non-believers to all sorts of afterlife atrocities than there are atheists who ridicule Christians (although percentage-wise, they might be the same... but I don't know).
The point is, there are good and bad people everywhere. The anonymity of the Internet tends to bring out more of the bad people, who feel that the lack of consequences means that they can be uncivil in their discourse.
But in my opinion, anyone more interested in speaking than listening is an idiot, regardless of their beliefs. Just ignore them.

Christians should take a stand, however freedom of speech does not seem to apply to us. We are now being marginalized. Kind of Ironic when 98% of the men that signed the Declaration of Independance were praticing Christians. It not to say they were perfect, they just believed in God and Jesus as Savior, attended and were involved with local churches. We are ridiculed, mocked, and put down. Since when does the minority rule?

Yes, we are ridiculed. But we are in the best of company. Jesus was ridiculed, spat upon, beaten, tortured and crucified. If Jesus reported every body that abused or spoke offensively to Him and about Him, He would have been late for His own cruxifixion. I don't mind at all that they ridicule. Don't you understand that they are reading all of this, all the scripture, all our responses. The seeds are being planted whether or not they realize it. Why else are they on this part of Answers? There is something within them that is curious. We are not seeking them out, they seek us out. Tells me we are doing something right. We are after all a " peculiar people"

I'm not a Christian, but I must agree with you. Way too many people haven't a clue about manners and do ridicule those with Christian beliefs.
However, now you know how it feels. What do you think it's like for everyone else when Christian services are shot over the air-ways riduculing anyone and anything that does not stand up to their scrutiny?
It's rude either way.

Well...It would be hard for Christians to take a stand because there's all these crazy messes of sub groups and denominations and it's just...
Christianity is the main religion and therefore the best one to poke fun at even to a degree of not goodness
Like how it's pretty much okay to make fun of Caucasians

Yes.
Or we could just wait and let them receive their judgement from Him upstairs. He won't let them try again with a new account.
To all the people citing free speech and opinions: This message board has clear rules about content and many people breach that (this isn't just aimed at Christians but some is). Opinions are fine, but if you think you really have free speech then you should read this http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guideli...

And Christians now think they're a minority?
That's a joke.
I don't try to blast people who don't believe the same things I do, and I think that faith and goodwill have a place in the world even for those who are not practicing in any church.
But don't try to make me feel sorry for you when your churches and your Pope run this country and half the world...

The point of these boards is to give your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter if they agree or disagree with you. I am a non-believer and I do not bash anyones take on religion. They believe what they believe and I believe what I believe. As far as I am concerned none of us know the real deal and until that day comes....Its all good.

A totally false and bizarre wold view referring to man-gods and bizarre notions of how the universe began, which a god up in the sky playing a giant game of sims, which simply belong in the dark ages, views which hinder science and progress and poison the minds of our young need to be ridiculed.

Don't worry if people insult you or ridicule you
Mathew 5:11-12
11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
