    No, no and no.

Your good, natural instincts kicked in when you asked '...should I even meet them at all...?'

You sensed something might not be right. Listen to this inner voice. There is good sense and wisdom there.

To an eighteen year old a fourteen year old should be a child, not an appropriate romantic option. Or a buddy.

If he is 18 he is a big loser and not someone you need to associate with. He has a major problem if he can relate best to 14 year olds.

If he isn't 18, but is a predator (and there is a very good chance he is a predator) then you don't need to meet him.

Either way you must break the appointment or be a no-show. And quit corresponding with this person. Predators are masters at manipulating young people. They have it down to an art form. They have a support network where they share their skills, techniques and strategies with each other. They are more experienced and better at this than you are. They know the buttons to push. They know how to sound caring, supportive and understanding. Which begs the question:

How can you know who you are talking to? How can you tell the difference between someone who is actually a nice person and a creep?

You can't really know but if the conversation takes a sexual turn they could be a predator. They take their time, build a relationship, establish trust, and know exactly when to start bringing these things up. And they don't neccessarily do it in a shocking way at first. They work it in skillfully and by degrees. You start out talking about kissing and over a period of time it evolves into something quite different.

If they want to meet you and they are older, like in this situation, they are either a predator or a loser.

Either way, it is a bad situation. Dangerous! Follow your first good instincts. Don't go.

I think your peers have given you some VERY good advice.

    As an adult, probably old enough to be your grandma, I agree with the following;

    Don't go!

If you decide to go, make sure your parents know where you're going & who you're meeting. And be specific about what time you're going to be home.

Maybe you should arrange for them to drop you off & pick you up. That would reduce the likelihood of him following you home, if he has bad intentions.

    Take some friends with you.

Remember, in the eyes of the law, this person is an adult and you are still considered a child. It is not appropriate at your ages to meet privately.

Before you meet, ask why he finds you so interesting. I was a mature child (who's happily grown into a goofy old woman), so I know that there may be platonic interest here.

    But I doubt it.

    NO!!!!!!!

never meet ANYBODY you met online, ESPECIALLY if you're only 14! you have know what of knowing who that person really is! you don't even know if they're really 4 years older than you like they say they are! they could be a kidnapper, rapist, pedophile, or murderer - do not meet them!

going to starbucks my butt! what if the person you meet is really twice your age and size? what if they throw you in their car and run off with you? what if they ambush you? what if they follow you home after your perfectly normal meeting and then hurt you later?

and by the way, if this person is really 4 years older than you, if they're really 18 years old, ask yourself - why would they want to socialize with a 14 year old? how many 18 year olds do you know that hang out with 14 year olds? no offense, but most normal 18 year olds do not hang out with 14 year olds.

Beware... it could turn out to be life threating... if you do decide to "meet" someone, first tell your parents and don't do it alone, take a friend or 2 or 3 with you and keep yourself in a safe public place. You're Only 14 and someone 18 is much more grown than you, at that age.

Well your 14 at that person is 18 If its a girl dont meet her because your too young to be dating such an older person (belive me my friend did that.) If its a boy and you wanna be his friend then i say go for it!

First of all u dont need to meet that person cuz it could be a physco killer! And plus why would u ever want to meet somebody u met of the internet? that could be ur opposite gender. That person might just want to meet u so they can kill u. But why would u EVER want to meet them in the first place???????????

    First answer is NO.

You shouldn't be going out (and I am not even talking about dating...) with adults.

Now ok if its one of your World of Warcraft clan buddies I'd say ok, but if it isnt, why does that adult want to meet up with a teenager? Dont they ahve anything else to do?

Don't go. He or she could easily say they are fours older but in fact they could be much older. If you nervous then you should back out and just save yourself from a bad situation.

Source(s): watch dateline to catch a predator.

Please do not go meet this person. There are alot of creeps out there. It may not be the person it said it would be. I don't mean to sound like your mom, but lots of bad things can happen. It may be the person you expected, but I sincerely doubt it. PLEASE do not meet the person. PLEASE be careful. I hope you make the right decision. GOOD LUCK!!
