Do you tip at a buffet like Home Town Buffet?

It's not a fast food place, and the people there work hard to keep your table cleared. Should you leave a tip? How much?

The standard for buffets is $1 per patron, if the service is good. That means they promptly clear your used plates and offer to refresh your beverages frequently.

The 15% rule does not apply to buffets, since it is not full service, and the staff can cover many more tables in a given amount of time.

Yes, I usually leave a tip for the person who clears the table throughout the meal.

Since I used to work there about 5 years ago, I'd say yes, but since the mean older ladies that worked there for years kept stealing my tips and still made me clean off the tables, I'd say NO! (unless you hand the money straight to the person, and sometimes that feels weird) So...No.

No. it's self serve. It's optional, lets say an employee goes out of the way to help a group of you by doing extra or a special request for say a birthday party then certainly.

10% minimum, but more up to 20% if excellent service
