Why should I stay a Cubs fan? Am I asking for Punishment?

The cubs have been so bad for so long, why should their fans stay loyal? Do cubs fans enjoy loosing? Are they so used to loosing that it is what they expect and accept as their destiny?

Update:

Just kidding, Im not a cubs fan, the cubs and there fans are loosers. I live about 20 min from Busch Stadium and root for the Greatest NL team in baseball history the CARDINALS. Cubs and their fans are pathetic, they are asking for the abuse just for being cub lovers, I mean loosers. The cubs are the most pathetic team 100 years or older. Root for a real team that has a real chance of winning, but not the Cards, because their fans are to good and a cub fan would go into shock to see all the winning that the Cards do. That why The Cards win the division and the cubs are close to the bottom, Go blow a goat cubs fans.

Being a fan for any team is about loyalty to the TEAM and nothing else. Just because management is bad or players don't live up to expectations there is still a history to love and fond memories of the (occasional) good years.

If you just want to be a fair weather fan, become a Cards fan...they all dessert when the Cards have bad years.

Ah, Greencaddyman, if you have to ask this, you just don't understand. The Cubs are terrible...they have been terrible for a century and every time they look like they might not have a terrible year, some creative disaster happens...like the Mets get hot, or a fan cops a flyball from Moises Alou. I moved from Chicago 6 years ago, and I STILL follow the hapless Cubs. It's an addiction. You don't have a choice.

Yes, the cubs have been perennital losers, but they have the most exciting stadium in baseball. I love watching games at Wrigley Field when the cubs play the Mets. It reminds me of the Old Yankee stadium. A treasure renovated. The cubs and red sox fans should consider themselves fortunate.

yes you are asking for punishment and severe ridicule.

but its not your fault, scientific studies have shown that cubs fans have a genetic mental problem in their right brains, it makes them love loser teams and loser people.

its the losing that keeps them alive.

but I have something for you, its a 12-step program to becoming a winner.

    step 1)

admit that you are a cubs fan and loser.

    step2)

go to a white sox game and experience winning at its best.

    steps 3-8)

    visit more white sox games

    step 9)

go into US cellular and gaze at the WS trophy, its power will heal you.

    step 10)

remove all your old cubs items and burn them to release your self from loser curses and demons

    step 11)

declare yourself a white sox fan, and buy a WS cap or something.

step 12) you are healed. go out into the sunlight and smile like you've never smiled since 1908.

consequently this is also the same 12-step to becoming a white sox fan, but hey, can't argue with results, comes with a satisfaction guarantee.

You are asking for punishment by being a Cubs fan. Only thing worst is being a Barry Bond's fan.

Because Cubs fans are the nicest people on Earth. They are kind, thoughtful, considerate, witty, charming, and down right swell people (unlike that OTHER baseball team in Chicago).
