Where's a good restaurant in San Antonio?

I'm going to be in town for a convention this weekend, and have never been to Texas, let alone San Antonio. I was wondering if there were any good local flavor restaurants that are a "must-eat-there" place. No preference on ethnicity of the food, just someplace yummy.

I recommend Casa Rio on the Riverwalk. It is the oldest restaurant on the Riverwalk.

If you are here long enough, and want true "local flavor" (aka, not touristy), eat at Rudy's. They are the best barbecue I have ever had.

Being from San Antonio it is just plain hard to seperate good from wonderful when describing good places to eat in

our area. Mi Terra is amoung my favorites. There a some pretty fair restaurants on River Walk which is a must see while there. However, most of the ones mentioned by your previous respondants are pretty much geared to the tourist trade. The Jail House has excellent chicken fried steaks, Sammy's in Pleasanton is really local but great Mexican food, the number of BBQ places and mom & pop mexican are limitless and most are very good. Remember if it moves in texas we will BBQ it. Oh yes! Do not miss Toms Ribs. They are to die for.

Paisono's has severe ratings, yet i don't believe of that's one I actually have eaten at. We visit San Antonio now and back and placed an impressive Northern Italian eating position with tremendous wine record hidden in a much off nook of the walk next to a large motel (regrettably i'm poor with names). depending on Google, i imagine that that's likely Michelino's at 521 River walk. You being there , you should verify it out—even with the indisputable fact that it became actual Italian (we stay in Chicago). i'm particular you're also accustomed to Boudro's (no longer—Italian yet i understand that call for particular) which has an impressive lunch and they make clean guacomole table side. i'm hoping to be there back quickly and revisit those places and write down there names. wish you savour..

Mi Terra located in Market Square. A friend and I ate there once and it was very crowded but the food was still very good. Great selection of alcohol and margaritas. Would love to stop by again the next time i'm in sa but I live in Wisconsin now. :(

also enjoyed mad hatters in the King William neighborhood. It is a tea house with full cafe. the tea selection is emmense and the food is very tastey. i like the assortment of salads and soups.

there several good restaurants all along the riverwalk, chose depending on the mood you are in at the moment you are hungry.

i don't live there but i go there almost every month, or as much as i can, it's a very fun place to be at and there a lot of things to see there as well.
