For fine dining in Burlingame, check out Pisces, (a member of the Acqua restaurant family), or the newer but also seafood-focused and well-regarded Lure.
231 Ellsworth and the Draeger's restaurant Viogner in San Mateo are on the more elegant and pricey end as well, though the food at both is more hit-or-miss and less inspired than it should be for the price.

Try a restaurant called "Left at Albequerque." They have incredible Southwestern food at a good price, and the decor is really fun.

Left at Albuquerque is no longer there, its now Straits Cafe which is really good. Try Ola or the Brewery or Trapeze. There are a ton of good restaurants on Burlingame Ave to choose from and its a great place for a stroll afterward.

Tapas, That's all I know. I went there with my daughter and her husband and I think It was one of the best meals Ive ever had!
