Can you suggest a good imaging package to stitch multiple digital images together?
I need to stitch several images together to make one image for a work project. Can you suggest a good package to use for this? Nothing too complicated as I am up against time pressures! Thanks
This software should be free (ideally!) and able to produce images in jpeg or other recognised compressed formats. Thanks

There's a web site you should read:
http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/gigapixel.htm
He describes doing huge (more than a gigapixel) images by stitching, the software he uses (PTAssembler) and the issues of distortion. There's a "how to" which I think will help you a lot.

If you just wanna resize and do all that simple stuff you don't really need photoshop at all. It just wouldn't be worth it for your money. Paint is an incredibly overlooked tool, and it probably came as a default program with your computer. Just use that.

Print Shop, Microsoft Picture It premium, Photo shop, PrintMaster and maybe even paint on your computer.
My favorite and a very easy one is Roxio Photo Suite. Hope this helps!!
