  • The F Word, Hell's Kitchen or Kitchen Nightmares?

Which one do you like most and why? The F Word so far is only made and shown in England. American versions of Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen are splashier, noisier, more argumentative and more heavily financed than the UK versions (the extra money means that US contestants and businesses are given perks that the UK contestants and businesses aren't).

Some people also find the narration and advance previews annoying and some feel the extra money that goes into the US versions is unfair. What do you think and which programme(s) do you prefer - the English or American versions - and why? Do you have an order of preference if you like all of them?

  • New hub capable of USB, Ethernet and wireless connection...?

...due to the nature of my work I cannot use a wireless connection (it isn't secure enough) so at the moment, my hub is connected to both my USB port and my ethernet port. Question: Is this overkill? Do I need both connections? Do they/will they conflict or is it safe to leave them be?

In my control panel, it says I have one LAN Ethernet NIC connection at 100 Mbps and a second 1394 (LAC) connection at 400 Mbps. I have no idea what this means! Is it normal?

Incidentally, despite the connection speeds, everything feels a bit sluggish when it comes to loading pages (downloads work a treat though!).

    Thanks

  • Surf Advert: surf with essential oils - current ad. What is the name of the song and who sings it?

I am trying to find out who sings the song in the latest surf ad. I think the lyrics say something like:

    "Spring, is the air

    By the waterside

    Where the breeze is ....[something]

    it's cool..."

It is sung by a woman and it is an absolutely gorgeous song! I am taking singing lessons and want to get the lyrics and music for this song so that I can learn it with my teacher. If anyone knows what the song is called and who sings it, please let me know! Thanks

  • Wall is uneven (#2) - how do I fix it?

I am doing some DIY in my bathroom. My ex wasn't a bundle on home improvements so the bathroom has only been decorated once in 20 years; even then, it has not been stripped right back...until now!

I am finding all sorts of things but my question is about a bowed wall. The wall is uneven - it bows outwards slightly. Not much but, because I want to partially tile the wall, it needs fixing. It's a partician wall, partly made of plasterboard, partly made of wood (I kid you not!). Not particularly well made either but there you go!

What is the best way to even this wall up? (And please do not suggest expensive wall replacement - I am on a finite budget and cannot afford to do this!)...

  • Uneven walls/damaged plasterboard?

The person who lived in my flat before me put cork tiles on the walls in the bathroom. No idea what adhesive he used but, in the course of taking the tiles off, the plasterboard they were attached to lost its surface. All I am left with is cardboard (more or less). Since I want to tile part of the wall, it will be important that the wall has a surface that can withstand the weight of the tiles. Clearly cardboard won't!

What is the easiest way to deal with this? I don't know if the plasterboard can be removed (I will check). If not, can it be re-plastered, re-skimmed and primed? I need some advice on this because I have no idea what I need to do here!

    Thanks

  • What is the best way to remove rawl plugs?

I think the person who lived in my flat before me had a rawl plug fetish! I have stripped the walls in my bathroom back to the plasterboard/concrete and they are literally peppered with rawl plugs! There are dozens of the things! I want to paint the walls (and tile them) so the plan is to remove the rawl plugs, fill the holes and sand them down to prepare the surface for painting. But, short of blasting them free with dynamite, the rawl plugs are proving kinda stubborn!

Anyone got any tips on how to remove them?
