I just moved into a place and my neighbors are noisy and nosey college kids! I used the bamboo shades and then got a little patio fountain to help buffer the noise. Worked great!

We have a screened in back porch that the neighbors could see in if they were outside. We planted an Olive Tea bush. it grew very fast and has heavenly smelling tiny flowers. We used to have bamboo roll down shades but removed them when the Olive Tea took over. This is in Georgia. Dont know what climate you have. (plant is about 10 feet high and 6 feet wide now. Been in ground 3 years) Plant was $15.00.

CArport is close. A simple half-roof, made of wood and shingles or corrugated steel, will suffice. Make sure it is at least 6'8" high at the lowest point so it will pass inspection should you ever sell your home. That is the required height of all doorways and entrances.

Rolldown matchstick blinds work, or if you have vertical posts you can nail up some criss-cross trellis sheets to enclose the porch.
