what is the penalty of driving w/out a license & insurance in CA?
I am not the guilty person. It's a guy who's a bit of a kook. The police were recently in my neighborhood & I also asked them about it. But I do thank everyone who has been responding because I wasn't quite sure.

Driving without a license will result in the immediate impound of your vehicle (you're responsible for towing & storage fees, too, which after 30 days could reach $2,000 or more), fines of up to $1,000, and possible jail.
Driving without insurance can result in fines of up to $500 and impounding of your vehicle (and cancelling of your license if you have one). If you're in an accident without insurance, you're still responsible for paying all of the damages that insurance would have paid.

fine and maybe jailtime depending on what u have on your record in the past ...
maybe if its the first time and u smile real nice in court u might get a smack on the hand and told to pay a fine
dont plead not guilty if u did it no contest or guilty might be your best bet .or get your license and insurance before u go to court
