If YOU were mayor of our great of Chicago, what would you change?

Try putting flowers in somewher OTHER than downtown. In fact, try spending money on someplace other than downtown. There are potholes that have been on the south and west sides for about 15 years. Screw the planters, how about fixing the street. How about tearing down that burned out building that's been there for seven years? how about spending a few bucks on the crumbling schools, or at least the schools that are NOT filled with the kids of Gold Coast parents.

I think Mayor Daley is doing a wonderful job. I believe he really likes his job. I also think that of all the people who've been trying to bring him down for such a long time that if they haven't found something on him by now, I suspect he's clean.

What I would change though, are the taxi cabs in Chicago. There are many things wrong with taxi's: one the drivers work too many hours because they are not paid enough. They should be paid more and their hours restricted. They should be tested randomly and frequently for drugs. They should be required to read English. Taxi drivers are nearly as important as M.D.'s in that I place my life in their hands when I ride in a cab. I want my drivers to be alert, sober, better paid than they are now, knowedgable about the rules of the road and able to read a "Do Not Follow" sign on the back of the vehicle in front of it. Dirty cabs in disrepair should be taken off the roads.

Rebuild Miggs, invite the INS in to do their work, move the prisons to another town, more money to the CFD, CPS, CTA, and CPD, lower cta fare, fix the Dan Ryan quicker, offer free parking downtown, and get the olypics here.

Pressure wash the sidewalks. Other cities do.

Have more big city type events (will we ever get the Olympics?)
