Were you raised in one church denomination, then joined a totally different denomination later on in life?
Please reply only if affirmative. What denomination were you & what denomination are you now?
I was raised Bible, mostly went to Baptist churches, & joined the Lutheran church last year.
The one thing that bothers me about Lutheranism is that the kids do not accept Christ until they are in 8th. grade. My girls already were Christian before they were baptised at the Lutheran church. My husband & I already were baptised as young adults.
I do not expect all replies to be exclusively Christian, so other forms of conversion stories are ok as well.
You know you're a Lutheran when you watch a Star Wars movie and they say, "May the Force be with you," you respond, "And also with you."

Yes (in a sense)...
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ.
For a draft-version of my journey from atheism to Christ, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html
Cordially,

I was raised in a Lutheran family, with my grandfather a priest. Have had a lot of good religious exeriences in many different context since. Am not currently member of a congregation, but would join a Liberal Catholic Church if it fitted with my timetable/life.
Realized, that in a lot churches, the sacrements don't really work, cause the connection to the apostolic succesion is broken. This doesn't mean that you can't connect to god or Christ unless you are in one of these lines, it just means, that the sacrements probably don't work as intended...
I have also great reverence for Taoism and Lao Tzu, for Buddhism and it's ideals and practise methods, and for several holy men and woman from different faiths (including Christian faiths).
So, I have gone from a "mute" Christianity, to an expansive, inclusive view of the religious and sacred, with a special connection with Christ (aka the Hidden Imam, Maitreya Buddha, the Kalki Avatar, etc.).

I was raised first in the Baptist church and then went to the Catholic church. Later I found the truth in the bible through study and now am Seventh Day Adventist. Those that are in the Sunday churches are really following the Catholic Church as it boasts that it "has the power to change the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day of the week, a change for which there is no scriptural authority." "And most churches follow Our teaching as while purporting to live according to the bible." Direct quote from the Catholic church writings. First day is taken from paganism, the venerable day of the sun, sun worship. Constantine promoted it and the Catholic church began the change in 321 AD. Check out the Catholic sites and you will see it all. Check a search engine and type in dark days, sabbath, etc., and you will learn a lot. Also check out www.bibleuniverse.com.

Yes, since you're talking about Christian denominations, I was raised in a Methodist church, then went to some non-denominational, then Presbyterian, now Baptist. I think I'll stay put.

I was born into a Catholic family then when I was confirmed I realized I said yes and I believe to something I don't understand at all. At 17 I started studying with Jehovahs Witnesses and know what I never understood before.
