Knowing that Elvis is the King of Rock 'n' Roll, who is the Queen from that time era?

I'm not loooking for a modern Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, but rather one from the same era as Elvis.

During the era of Elvis' reign as King (50s to early 60s), the nearest thing to a Queen of rock n roll would have been the gravelly voiced Brenda Lee.

Though originally a C & W artist, she crossed over into rockabilly, the precursor to rock and roll.

The queen of rock and roll could easily be argued Nancy Sinatra... Elvis' music covered so many years through the 50s 60s and 70s ... but the queen of music of those early years was not disputable Patsy Cline was the queen of country music.

Source(s): I dont think there was a clear cut queen of rock and roll. if you go to the seventys I would say Janis Joplin.before that I would go with Nancy Sinatra or Petula Clark. But the undisputed greatest female singer of the 50s was without a doubt Patsy Cline while some of her hits may have crossed over I would never call her rock and roll.

THEIR WASN'T ANY QUEEN OF R&R BACK THEN BECAUSE MOST FEMALE SINGERS BELONG TO A GROUP, THEIR WAS PATTI PAGE, DORIS DAY, CONNIE FRANCES, JONI JAMES, JOANN CAMBEL, BUT THESE WERE CONCIDERED POP SINGERS. THEN YOU HAD COUNTRY SINGERS SUCH AS LORETTA LYNN, TAMI WYNETT,BUT REALY NO QUEEN OF R&R.
