Ewwww vaseline. That won't come out of your hair. Don't put it on there. But anyhow, this is a time you probably shouldn't be a hippie. Lice is no joke and it is hard to get rid of. You probably should suck it up and buy medicated shampoo. It won't kill you, but it will kill the lice. You could try a natural remedy, but it isn't guaranteed to work. Ask anyone that has cleaned their home for lice and they will tell you they don't want to do it again.

Olive oil for a couple of hours and then using a lice comb remove the offending critters.... you also need to be vigilant and remove the eggs or the cycle begins again in a couple of weeks....the eggs are small and firmly attached to hair strands. Tea tree oil is also good and brushing hair the old 100 strokes a day is also good as it breaks the lice legs and no legs no breeding

Mayonnaise( usually keep on hair for a few hours), Vaseline (keep on hair for 24 hours), Margarine And Vinegar (Lather hair up with margarine, keep in hair for a few hours then rinse it out with vinegar). Vaseline does come out after a few washes, I know I have used it. Some people cannot use the over the counter stuff cause it irritates their scalp.
Source(s): Have used all, prefer vaseline. Was told about the Mayonaise and Vaseline ones from a doctor. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

Gotta' go with prettyinpunkk on this one. Attack it 100% with a medicated shampoo and get it over with once and for all. (Actually twice and for all because you normally have to re-apply the shampoo to kill any missed nits.)
I'll use natural medicine for a lot of things but I wouldn't mess around with nonsense like mayonaise. I've got better things to do than sit around with a plastic bag on my head all day, you know? :-)
