Has anyone read "Love Story" by Erich Segal?

This is an older book that was published in the 70s, and from what I understand, it used to be quite popular. I had never heard of it until I found it yesterday at a thrift store, and I absolutely love it. If anyone else has read it, I'd like to hear any thoughts/reactions about the story.

Read the book a couple of times and the follow-up "Oliver's Story". I have also seen the film that many times I know it off by heart. But I still watch it every time it is on TV.

Good old fashioned schmaltz. I love it.

But I'll deny everything if you tell anybody. Oops!

I saw the movie in the seventies with a girl I was going out with at the time, and I thought the female in that was very selfish. In the movieshe something along the lines of, you don't have to tell a person that you love them. In the movie What's up doc, the same line was mentioned to Ryan O'Neil by Barbara Striesand, and he replied, who said a dumb thing like that.

Yes I read it when it came out and saw the movie with my first boyfriend in 1971. They have the statue that was on the cover of the book in Indianapolis.

I loved it but my boyfriend made a lot of negative comments about it.

I haven't read the book but the movie is quite good with Ali McGraw and Ryan o'Neal.

    (Sad movie though)

Source(s): Have seen the movie 2 or 3 times
