What conversation topics never fail with people from different cultures?
Im visiting my boyfriends familiy in another country, I dont speak their language, they dont speak mine. I dont know them, and I am staying for a weekend over there. We might talk in english, when there is nothing to say, or in those unconfortable situations, what should I say not say, what never fails? what conversations are always nice to hear? what do people like to hear? I am really nervous about this!! What would your recomendation be?

Since I love flowers, that's what I would talk about! Maybe ask them what kinds of plants they grow there... veggies, flowers etc... people grow things all over the world!
Food, is always a good thing to talk about, everyone eats!Ask how to make certain things, if you let them TEACH you something about THEIR interests or passions, they will love you forever.
Be a good listener, don't talk too much about yourself (unless you are prompted) but always try to politely ask THEM questions. Ask about the seasons and what's it like "in the winter" there... Ask about your boyfriend's family tree (sometimes you can find out about interesting lineage!). Ask about where THEY vacation, and what so they like to do on a regular night out. Ask about the funniest moment they remember about your boyfriends childhood. Get them to open up and laugh, make them feel warm. And smile. Smile whenever you can, not a fake forced smile, but a relaxed smile.
But best thing to do is find out what their passions are... Listen, learn and relax. Be yourself and enjoy!
Have a great time!

Just relax, smile and try to get what they say and be helpful.(offer to help to put plates on the table or stuff like this)
Try to imitate them if you feel confused.
Try to learn a few things to say as well, just not to be completely mute.
A general topic is just to ask about the family, pets is an easy subject.
You should talk to your boyfriend about your anxiety and ask him how they are, what they like and things.
I know this situation as my boyfriend is Irish and I'm french, so I was feeling embarrassed when we met, I speak english okay but I made them repeat everything they said just because I was nervous and scared not to understand what they were actually asking.
It's only the first moments, normally they should be nice and welcoming as well. And your boyfriend will help you I'm sure.

ask questions about their work, culture, likes, dislikes, that is always a good conversation starter! then they will return the same out of courtesy or if not you can throw ur 2 cents in on their replies and find more questions to ask. and if you fail at it then try to avoid too much one on one time with them, use the excuse of wanting to see sites or needing to run to the store or deciding to take a jog for fitness. GOOD LUCK

What never fails is to ask people questions about their lives. People love talking about themselves. You can also ask questions about the country since your new there.
